‘My interest in Clean Eating started back in June 2014 when I started training at Revolution Fitness Academy. I was overweight, lethargic, miserable, I had very little self-esteem and confidence, not to mention being sick of my reflection in the mirror…urggg!
One of the biggest parts of my huge fat loss results was my diet. I loved the training (I still love it) but it was the phenomenal change in my body shape that really got my attention. “How could I only lose 7lbs on the scales yet 3 inches off my waist in 4 weeks”?! That was coming from someone who was on the bathroom scales on a daily basis and counted calories as much as toddlers ask “why?”
I decided to really start looking into this ‘clean eating malarkey’. The more I researched the more interesting it became for me. I started altering recipes and playing with new ingredients. Making slight changes to family favourites so everyone could get involved.
The biggest issue I came across was that I wanted to eat all of those sweet things we shouldn’t but with none of the guilt, lethargy and weight gain that came with it – who doesn’t?! That’s when I started experimenting with clean sweet treats. Making my own fruit and nut chocolate, Nutella, jams, cereals and cakes feels great. Now I can eat all of those things and feel no guilt.
I don’t pretend to know everything about clean eating, I just know what I do and it works. I’m genuinely still enjoying experimenting with new ingredients and finding healthier alternatives. I’ve still got lots to learn and will continue to enjoy experimenting with new recipe ideas.’
